Successful delivery of 10,000th blanket

Posted by Mary Crew on June 11, 2012 at 1:40 PM

Our celebration and delivery of the ten thousandth blanket made and distributed in the Charlotte metro area was on Saturday, September 17, at 3:00 in the afternoon. We met in our previous meeting site, the Fellowship Hall of Candlewyck Baptist Church on Providence Road in the Arboretum area of south Charlotte. It was quite a nice celebration and enjoyable for all attendees.

Our recipient was Jacob Goodson who is a young boy with SMA, a very rare, paralyzing disease of the neuromuscular system. He chose a bright green and orange quilt with "little monsters" on it. His mother, Jennifer Goodson accompanied him along with one of his nurses. We hope Jake can feel our love and good wishes with the Linus Hug we gave him. We also sent his sister a blanket with puppies on it, since she loves dogs so much.

Our blanketeers come from every walk of life and are absolutely the best people in the world. Many of them sacrifice in order to make these hand crafted hugs. We appreciate each of them and hope they have long and happy lives. If you'd like to join us in making handmade hugs for children, please join us monthly at our meetings, and we can help you. Hope to see you soon.
