We had such a wonderful response to our meeting on November 13, 2012, that we were able to send 92 blankets, so far, to victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. We sent blankets by mail and by personal courier: my son Scott and his sweet wife Chrissy, whose family lives on Long Island. They went up to visit her family for Thankgiving, and met with coordinator Mary Reardon. She gave our blankets to a group of victims who were gathered at the nearby park waiting for some help.
We also sent some by mail to a parish priest in East Meadow, NY, as well as a coordinator in New Jersey, Marianne McCarthey. Additionally, we sent along some scarves and caps knitted by the loving ladies in the Mint Hill Helping Hands group who give us beautiful hand knitted and crocheted blankets each month. We plan to send even more blankets up this month.
Thank you for helping us supply blankets to these kids who have suffered so much loss due to the hurricane and storm which followed.
