If you want to learn to quilt or just brush up on your skills, please join us during our new quilt group on the first Friday of each month, from10 A.M. to 3 P.M. at the West Stanly Senior Center in Locust, NC. Judy Lynch was instumental in starting the group as she got together a two day class for quilters in May at the Stanly County Ag Center in Albemarle. It was so well received and enjoyed that the ladies asked to have a monthly meeting to sew quilts for Project Linus. Judy's connections made it possible for us to meet on the first Fridays at the West Stanly Senior Center in Locust from 10 am till 3 pm, each person bringing a bag lunch, then having a delicious dessert mady by Judy herself. She has arranged for Nancy Wells to teach both the quilt class and coach at the quilting sessions. Judy helps coach/teach, sets up the room, cleans up after, brings supplies and fabric, as well as making and serving the dessert and coffee, and hauling lots of stuff back home each month. She is our go-to person for Stanly county, making blankets, finishing some, edging some, and delivering blankets to several facilities in Stanly county which help children in illness or distress. We hope you'll join us there each month if you can, and make some quilts for Project Linus to give the kids. Thanks to Judy and Nancy for doing all this work with happy smiling faces.
